#1205 – Another Glimpse

Gondolas are everywhere Venice; what started out as one of the key methods of transport from island to island are now, in effect, tourist traps. They are the thing to do while in the city, and the owners and gondoliers know it. For a 20-minutes trip, it will cost €80 (£70 / $90), and this can double in price if you would prefer a moonlit journey.

Vaporettos (waterbuses) are a lot cheaper and get you a lot further a lot quicker, but, understandably, they do not hold the same sort of romance as a gondola (think bus or horse-drawn cart).
