#2007 – Edward Peakome
Worthing, 13th July 2017.
A group photo taken in Sheffield. Beyond the age and clothing, I like that there is little difference in people’s attitude to family gatherings then as there are now (the lad on the left in front row looks particularly pleased to be included!).
Edward Peakome operated his Glossop Road studio between at least 1881 and 1893 (according to Kelly’s and White’s directories of the time).
The advert on the rear of this image suggests he was in business at least twenty years before this (Prince Albert died in 1861), although, as with most photographers at this time, it is hard to corroborate any connection to royalty.
