#2008 – Elijah Yeoman
Worthing, 13th July 2017.
Born in 1849, Elijah Yeoman originally went into business with his brother in Bedale, North Yorkshire. He had moved on to set up a solo business in nearby Barnard Castle by the time he was in his late twenties.
Over the next thirty years, Yeoman expanded his business, opening up studios in Kirkby Stephen and Hartlepool.
While the portrait work brought in the money, it also enabled Yeoman to fulfil his passion for landscape photography and he travelled the length and breadth of his beloved Yorkshire capturing scenery and geography and committing it to film (http://www.vintagegraphics.co.uk/Yeoman.html).
He retired in 1914, moving to Cumbria with his wife, and passed away in 1930, at the age of 80.
