#2377 – Lest We Forget Too (Signs 12)

Following yesterday’s commemorative post, I couldn’t leave the graves I found and photographed. The ones I posted yesterday featured servicemen who passed away during the Great War. However, the Broadwater & Worthing Cemetery houses numerous more war graves, some of which date from the immediate aftermath of the war. It seems likely that these servicemen may have succumbed to the global flu pandemic of 1918/1919 (particularly CS Bashford, whose archival records mark his cause of death as ‘disease’).

Others here date from later, and include Olive Jean Moore, an ATS Private (I was unable to discover her cause of death, and one of the downsides of having an interest in social history – and an Ancestry account – is that a LOT of time can be spent researching these people!!).
