#2883 – Shelter
Brighton, December 2019.
She had faced out to sea for more than a century and, it was fair to say, had seen it all. Lovers, loneliness, partying, drunkenness, alcohol, drugs, children, pensioners. Above all, despite her convictions, she could not condone everything she had witnessed, but she was strong, stalwart and so she remained, looking out to see, watching the wind and the rain, the waves lapping on the beach, and people walking, running, cycling and skating, their hopes and dreams known only to themselves… and to her.
